Uh, unless I'm using different centimeters than you, I get that a standing
minifig is just under 4 cm.  So, 1:25 standing.

A sitting minifig, on the other hand, is approx 4 cm tall from the
seat and up.  Comparing this to a sitting human, we may end up with an
approx scale of 1:25.  Using this scale, cars should probably be six
studs wide rather than four.  Of course, this leads to a sitting
minifig having too short arms and legs.

I'm getting 3.3 cm for a sitter.  Which is closer to 1:30.

So with this in mind, a six wide willys jeep I built is no longer too
large for the minifigs, but vitually perfectly scaled!  I just need to
avoid having a standing minifig next to it!  ;-)

Try extending the legs of the stander by adding 1x1 bricks to the feet.
That pops the height of a standing mini up to nearly 5 cm, closer to the
scale for sitting.  It looks a bit weird, but what can you do with
minifigs?

I always thought minifigs were sorta dwarf-shaped.
