I'm on the German mailing list from the www.1000steine.de website, and the
following item came across today (my translation):

"The former LEGO(R)-designer Bjoern Doppke displays models on his website
'Brickpark' (http://home.t-online.de/home/320098039644-0001/LegoSite.htm) which
he built at LEGO(r) for advertising purposes.  Included are naturally th models
for the 'Mehr Zeit fuer Kinder' [more time for kids] campaign.  The site is an
absolute must for all true LEGO(r) fans."

The site is in German, so non-German-readers will miss the little tidbits, but
the models themselves are very cool.  A couple of examples:

A frog:

In the advertisement, "Lego knows what ladies wish for."  The explanation:
"The lilypads are about 60cm in diameter.  The flower petals are made out of
Paradisa sails (a stroke of genius!)."

A tuba:

"The tuba and beer mugs are built to scale.  These were put to uncanny use as
an anniversary gift for especially good Bavarian customers."

Enjoy!

Alan

Wow! Those are some sweet creations. My favorite is the frog and Dizzy Gillespie. I wish I had the grey bricks used in those elephants...and all the rest too! -Chris (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.general)

And for those that want to read the newspaper article, but don't speak German, paste the text into the box @: (URL) do too bad of a job (it speaks better German than I do). Randy -- Randy Anchikoski bigguy@teradesigns.tzo.com (25 years ago, 20-Apr-00, to lugnet.general)

for a company that doesn't like violence I find this one rather interesting, not that I agree with it... (URL) some of the creations are just excellent! Tamy (...) (25 years ago, 21-Apr-00, to lugnet.general)
