Hmmm...this is a neat idea, probably better than the one I had thought about
broaching: The creation of a newsgroup specifically for organizing and arranging
these sorts of things. I'm assuming that requests can come from any number of
sources and LEGO themselves do the aggregation; but with a group (or an online
request site) at least the knowledge that we have about whether something may or
may not be produced is improved.
Now that I think about it, a newsgroup specifically for this would at least allow
people to broach the subject--do any of the existing ngs really allow for this?
Would it be b-s-t, or should there perhaps be a .market.lego-direct (or
somesuch)? I normally abhor splintering newsgroups, but this is one case that
might be warranted even to me--there would certainly be plenty of traffic. In
any case, maybe Todd could let us know which newsgroup such
negotiations/offers/canvasses should be confined to before the service goes
"live"?
(Then again, maybe Randy will make this all moot with his project!)
