Black ones were found in these two sets:
6972 Polaris-1 Space Lab
6987 Message-Intercept Base
(and maybe others, but these are the only ones I have)
Looking through the set database, I see it was also available in some
other colors:
grey: 6952 Solar Power Transporter
blue: 6985 Cosmic Fleet Voyager

| You will also find that part in black in the Mega Core Magnetizer- set 6989 from M-Tron. You posted a picture of my favorite piece ever made. :-) check (URL) shows up midway through the instructions. (25 years ago, 22-Mar-00, to lugnet.general)
