I would certainly be interested since I've been working on learning VB and
database programming for a while now.  Would be nice to have a look.

I'm not sure where this message belongs so I'll post it here.  I'm considering
handing out the source to my auction software to anyone who wants it.  It's
written in visual basic with a (poorly written) server-side perl script to
make the e-mail form work.  I'd call it about 50% done.  I actually ran a
parts auction with it.  It tracks users, parts, and bids.  It accepts bids
through e-mail and generates html and updates the website.  At the end, it
prints a detailed pick-list to help in the sorting process.  And it allows
variable lot sizes.  It's designed to run on your machine and operate entirely
through email and ftp.  It really works best with a cable modem, but I ran my
auction over a dial-up line.  I doubt a casual computer user could use the
software effectively.  You probably need to know a fair amount about VB and
access to make it work since there are a dozen or more complicated sql queries
attached to the MDB file that provide all kinds of interesting info.  Also,
since I rewrote a few sections of code while the auction was running, there's
some derelict code that's there for reference.  There are also orphaned
functions that are there for one-time automated data loading.  I'll need to
clean up the database before posting since it contains personal information
about past customers.  Needless to say, it's a hack.  But it works.  If you're
interested, please post or email (brian_and_lynn@yahoo.com).  If there's
interest, I'll clean it up, package it nicely, and put it on Lynn's website.
I probably cannot provide very much support since my latest contract and
lynn's website take most of my time.  I probably could fix an occaisional bug
or answer design questions.  What this really needs is an owner with more
time, and a lot of work.  Let me know what you think.
