Jon, when parts packs (or service packs) first became available in the late 70's or early 80's one of the first items was a "Police" parts pack containing 3 yellow windows like you just described. Of course this doesn't help you since it was dropped (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)
(...) 1976 Police set #585 had 11 of these yellow windows, probably the most in any set. Basic set #517 had 2, and several of the 1970's Shell sets had a few as well.
