    Futbol or Football? —Todd Lehman
What's the official name of the new Futbol/Football product category? Is it Football in the U.S. and Futbol outside of the U.S.? --Todd (25 years ago, 4-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)

I guess nobody here wants to enlighten me...I asked this question a couple of months ago and I will ask again: Where are you guys seeing a reference to either the words "futbol" or "football"...I have yet to see either word in a catalog or on the (...)      (...) Nope. Just not looking carefully enough. ;) The hyperlinks on the System page of the catalogue all have an alt-text which appears if you don't load images or - if your browser supports it - when you move your mouse over the icon.      (...) That's actually quite the opposite of likely, in this case. If the site were Americacentric, it would say "Soccer". Over here, "Football" is a silly game played with pigskin, that has little to do with feet. :) James (URL) (25 years ago, 5-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)

True, but a half-clever American will know that what he calls soccer is called football everywhere else. He just won't know how to spell. ;) -- Paul Davidson James Brown <galliard@shades-of-night.com> wrote in message news:Fnu6Bn.DGq@lugnet.com... (...) (25 years ago, 5-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)

Re: Futbol or Football? —Todd Lehman
(...) Oops, as was pointed out by JoshuaD, it's much more likely that it'll be called Soccer in the U.S. because Football in the U.S. means pigskins. I think it's interesting, though, that the name of the GIF file displayed on this page: (URL) (...) (25 years ago, 4-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)
