Re: Trademark defense doesn't work vs Mega Bloks

(...) Impartial? Well, sort of, but not in the way that you seem to think. It's called PRNewswire. PR, as in Press Release or Press Relations. Eric- What a great concept! And implementation! And effect! You cut to the heart of what makes a really cool MOC. I'm certainly going to want to put some cows in our pasteur when I get back from BF. -Ted Michon SCLTC (22 years ago, 4-Aug-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build, lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Trademark defense doesn't work vs Mega Bloks

Hi Matt, (...) don't confuse trademarks (which don't expire), patents (which do 20 years after filing), and copyright (which expire 70 years ofter the death of the creator). Here LEGO had a patent on the shape of the blocks, which expired long ago, (...) (22 years ago, 4-Aug-04, to lugnet.mediawatch, lugnet.general)

Re: Trademark defense doesn't work vs Mega Bloks

(...) Well, that's fair enough. The LEGO trademark on the standard brick must have expired years ago, it's only the fact that the community automatically associates said brick design with LEGO that prevented Megabloks taking it for themselves ages (...)   Re: MOC: Motorized Cows

I missed the initial post the first time I read about this, but my first thought was magnets. My wife (a non-AFOL) thought magnets too when I showed her the video. I've noticed the train magnets are strong enough to make the magnets twitch on trains (...) (22 years ago, 3-Aug-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build, lugnet.trains)

(...) snip (...) Wow Eric, Spotlighted! That is SO totally cool!!! I showed my kids and they were amazed, as am I. Truly, imho, it's MOCs like that, that will make HO modelers think twice about the "limitations of the brick". Way to go! Nicely (...)   Re: MOC: Motorized Cows

(...) That's exceedingly cool. But since I don't have an RCX, it makes me wonder whether something similar could be done without it.
