Re: LEGO fires CEO Plougman - concentrates on bricks

So pirate captain Plougman leaves the leaking ship? Good riddance! And Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen takes over? Go, Captain Kirk, go! :D (22 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

Re: LEGO fires COO Plougman - concentrates on bricks

(...) My official dose of pessimism for today: the press release says "In spite of the general decline in sales, sales of Make & Create, the core products, were more than doubled." Well, the 2002 equivalent of Make & Create was, as far as I know, (...) (22 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

Re: LEGO fires CEO Plougman - concentrates on bricks

(...) I dunno-- "Duplo" is a brand name that lasted 25 years. Some of today's parents probably remember growing up with it. But "Explore" was only around for 2 years. Hardly as recognizable. Plus, "Duplo" is one of Lego's great brand names that (...) (22 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

Re: LEGO fires CEO Plougman - concentrates on bricks

(...) I wonder if this means they may reverse the color issue. I'm hopeful. In part, this is because I have already heard-- from within my own family--concern that LEGO's quality control is slipping because "these bricks don't match." Consumers (...)   Re: LEGO fires CEO Plougman - concentrates on bricks

I can't tell you how many people I have helped in the Lego aisle this past year. People looking for Duplo size Lego were confused. These people were buying products for children that were not their own. (Individuals not familiar with the product (...) (22 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.duplo)

Re: LEGO fires CEO Plougman - concentrates on bricks

(...) I doubt that, Explore or Duplo, still the same stuff. Maybe they're going to kick Jack Stone's butt? (hope so). I think that pre-school is 4-6, and when I was young, I got wonderful sets such as 145 (lots of bricks, some roofs, some windows, (...) (22 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

Re: LEGO fires CEO Plougman - concentrates on bricks

(...) In the Danish TV tonight Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen said, thet the change from Duplo to Explorer had been a fatal mistake, as the sales had HALVED!! So, yes, I guess that'll mean that they'll return to the DUPLO branding. Arne, Copenhagen (22 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.duplo)

Re: Chat with Kate & Jake / translation to English

(...) I haven't a clue. I got the impression that a newly arrived box full of any one type of brick equals a certain number of sales, so I presume it's based on how many cups you can fill from an average box of average parts. Some people will get (...) (22 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego.direct)

  Lego changes strategy

I read in the paper today (URL) the director of lego is fired, as he should change it from a negative business to a positive, which (he) has failed. He is fires and Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen will take over, and lego will "go back to the brick", no more (...) (22 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.mediawatch)

Re: Chat with Kate & Jake / translation to English

(...) OK, I had to think about this for a while - but it does raise a question: How do they determine how many PaB cups of bricks are in a carton? Do they just guestimate, or do they fill a cup and work off of that? Because, AFOLs (and kids!) who (...) (22 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.lego.direct)
