Hehe. As we all do.

Traders, prospectors, governors, and explorers have in the last few days been mulling over the meaning of a strange transmission that gives the only clue to the end of the independent prospecting ship James Urqhardt. That ship vanished somewhere in Delta Quadrant, along the galactic rim, with barely a signal to mark its passing, and no known survivors to tell its tale. James Urqhardt is not the first ship to vanish in the general vicinity of (-3,7) but it is the first to give any indication of its fate.

However, despite what appears to all accounts as an active and efficient attempt to block transmissions from the prospector, a few grainy images have made it back to the more populous regions of the Galaxy. They hint at some kind of large military force or empire existing somewhere on the Rim, and one that does not take kindly to trespassing miners at any rate.

The clearest of the images returned is shown here.

Who these ships--estimated to be “really big” by definitively Scientific™ methods--belong to, and what their purpose is in the Galaxy is unknown. Likewise, the range and extent of their peregrinations is also uncertain, although no suspicious disappearances beyond normal levels have taken place outside (-3,7), and therefore extreme caution must be urged to any free agent entering that region.

More information will be provided as the news reaches us.

REPLY FROM USC CIVILIAN DEPARTMENT, ARBOR 9, ARBOR SECTOR

FROM: HIGH TEMPLAR FIONA PLAT

REGARDING: POSSIBLE HOSTILES

USC Intel has been scanning this area since this message has been recieved. However, Intel has not been able to recieve anything, not even a signal. USC forces have been activated along the borders of each of our sectors. Shall these forces try to attack, the Genocide Fleet will be called in.

REPLY FROM USC INTEL, SARACEN STATION, MARMA SECTOR

FROM: STRATÈGE ANDREW GATES, USC INTEL LEADER

REGARDING: INTEL OF POSSIBLE HOSTILES

As the High Templar has stated, USC Intel has tried to scan this area, but scans came up negative. We were not even able to recieve any image of this area, thus there must be some kind of blocking device. I have prepared some agents to travel there, but they are undergoing naval training at this time. The USC will work with the governments of the region surrounding (-3,7) to become more aware of this possible threat. Intel, out.
