I've been thinking about my growing interest in LEGO Space creations,
and what a cool set of game rules Iron Crown's Silent Death is, and how
it would be real cool to mix the two. Part of this idea also comes from
the mixing of Silent Death rules with the Galoob Micro-Machines Star
Wars ships (the ones which are approximately HO/20mm scale) that was run
at the SF con in Durham last fall (that game also added a 3-D element
which I think I would skip). This morning I was even considering how to
make the ship record sheet out of LEGO (I've also been hashing out ideas
for a traditional dungeon crawling RPG using LEGO for the character
sheets).
I would have to make some changes to the rules (some simplifications,
some adjustments for a free playing space rather than hex maps), but I
think it would be a cool game. A modest scenario should be doable in a
couple hours. My first attempt at the game would likely use ships mostly
supplied by me (but if the idea generates interest, I would actually
welcome other folks creations, but they would have to be submitted well
ahead of time because initially I won't have construction rules). One
thing which might interest folks in the game over Brick Wars is that
disassembly of the models would definitely not be a part of the game
(though I'm sure one can play Brick Wars without such destruction, it at
least seems to be part and parcel of the game).
If there is interest in this, it would probably happen Sunday at
Brickfest, but could also be a possibility for Friday or Saturday
evening.
If Piratefest still is on for June (but my impression is that is dead -
Chris?), I'd also be willing to run it there.
