Re: Lego Wars (the simple version)

(...) Nice, very nice! I've seen your rules before, and they’re one of the better game rules out there. I tend to use a few more Warhammer ® rules to supplement my Brickwars outline. But, everyone who ever asks me about where to find rules on the (...) (23 years ago, 19-Jun-01, to lugnet.gaming)

  Lego Wars (the simple version)

As part of the on-going retirement on my website on shades-of-night, I've updated & moved the rules for LEGO(r) Wars to a Lugnet FTX page. They are now at: (URL) always, I like getting feedback, or just hearing about people who've used them, so (...) (23 years ago, 18-Jun-01, to lugnet.gaming, lugnet.castle)

  Brikwars 2000 troop scorer

For all you Brikwars players out there who are like me-- writing down your stats all by hand, crossing this and that out, writing 1+3=9, realizing it equals 7, and having to go back and change it again, this one's for you. The troop scorer is a (...) (23 years ago, 18-Jun-01, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: Beater Beta testing (was: New fantasy battle rules....)

(...) Thanks. Good luck with the computer resurrection, hope you didn't lose anything in the switch. (...) Always thought there was more to the Lego-gamer than met the eye, now i realise it's another dimension. (...) (23 years ago, 24-May-01, to lugnet.gaming)

  BrickWars and BrickFest!

...Who is going to help out running the BrickWars games at BrickFest 2001? There is interest both in a Castle/low-tech/fantasy themed battle as well as a space/sci-fi/hi-tech themed event and I want to make sure we talk things through now rather (...)   Re: Beater Beta testing (was: New fantasy battle rules....)

(...) Right now my computer's all busted up from trying to install win2k (dumb move, I know) - hopefully I can resurrect it fast enough that we won't get knocked off-schedule. I'll put your name down for the second editing round. (...) Sounds like (...) (23 years ago, 22-May-01, to lugnet.gaming)

Beater Beta testing (was: New fantasy battle rules....)

(...) Ooh ooh! Do you need beta testers or is it all done in-house? If you do need a nother bod to look over the rules this nerd^2 will be happy to oblige. James (another name for a nerd is a square... hmm square squared?) (23 years ago, 22-May-01, to lugnet.gaming)

Re: [OT] Re: New fantasy battle rules....

(...) See my other post about the accuracy of this site. I'm not convinced that all the scans are correct. But we are getting so off topic we should probably stop now :-) Regards Neil. (23 years ago, 9-May-01, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: (OT) Re: D&D history

(...) Unfortunately it has a few errors... for instance it has no mention of the original dark blue cover version of the Basic D&D rulebook. Once my copy is out of storage I'll be sending the maintainer a scan so he can add it to the site. Neil. (23 years ago, 9-May-01, to lugnet.gaming)

[OT] Re: New fantasy battle rules....

(...) The very first printing of the Monster Manual had "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons" in red right at the top of the front cover. It never made much sense to me to release the MM before the PHB, but that is how it happened. For images of that cover (...) (23 years ago, 7-May-01, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: New fantasy battle rules....

(...) Ha ha it's all good, I was just joking around about the wound and all. Secretly I half agree with you - by coincidence I was just having a conversation with Dave Brown a few days ago about how professionally-written BrikWars isn't, taking the (...) (24 years ago, 6-May-01, to lugnet.gaming)

  (OT) Re: D&D history

I noticed several folks posting about D&D history, etc. For the best history on the web of D&D products including Chainmail, manuals, and a BUNCH of other stuff, visit The Acaeum, "Dungeons & Dragons Knowledge Compendium": (URL) lugnet.fun.gaming, (...) (24 years ago, 5-May-01, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: New fantasy battle rules....

(...) Hmm, I distinctly remember the MM being branded AD&D. As I recall, Basic D&D (the original one) mentioned the "Advanced Dungeons and Dragons" which was soon to come out. Of course I could be horribly mistaken. Frank (24 years ago, 5-May-01, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: New fantasy battle rules....

This is getting horrendously off topic... but what the heck :-) (...) It is actually correct as the Monster Manual was originally released as a Dungeons & Dragons product (not Advanced D&D), it was re-branded after the release of the PHB and DMG. (...) (24 years ago, 5-May-01, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: New fantasy battle rules....

(...) Hello Mike (and Shaun), Where do I begin? I am _really_ sorry the way that came out. I really do enjoy your Brikwars rules. In my fervor to gush about the Chainmail rules, I gave your ruleset a back-hand slap, and I apologize. I don't want to (...) (24 years ago, 4-May-01, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: New fantasy battle rules....

(...) As I understand it from some folks I have talked to, there actually was some roleplaying even earlier than Chainmail, it just didn't directly develop into the first commerical role playing game. Of course many wargames are also technically (...) (24 years ago, 4-May-01, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: New fantasy battle rules....

(...) Oof! You wound him! Actually, don't get me started on the volumnuous (sp?) merits of Brikwars ... I can extemporaize for hours about this wonderful system, and I still haven't even gotten on Mike's payroll yet. -s (24 years ago, 4-May-01, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: New fantasy battle rules....

(...) Close, Robin... but not close enough. D&D was first developed from Chainmail about 30 years ago. In around 1970 was the first fantasy Chainmail game that started the concept of role-playing in a wargame... and creating some new form of gaming (...) (24 years ago, 3-May-01, to lugnet.gaming)

  Re: New fantasy battle rules....

(...) Hello James, I didn't realize anyone would be that well-versed in the lore of DnD, but that is correct. I think it's a neat way to respect the heritage of the game. As an aside, I'm looking forward to using my Qui-Gon Jinn LEGO mini as a (...) (24 years ago, 3-May-01, to lugnet.gaming)
