I'd like to raise the possibility, for those of us who have RV's,
tents, camping vans, etc., of setting up a little Lego colony at a
nearby campground.  I don't know the Carlsbad area, so I'm not sure
what venues would be appropriate, but hopefully someone local, or at
least someone planning to visit the area soon, would volunteer to do
some scouting.

One advantage of doing this would be that for those of us who are
planning to drive down and camp out anyway, we could get together in
the evenings around a fire or whatever.  Another big plus would be the
possibility of carpooling - leave most of the campsites intact and
pile into a couple of cars to go to the events on-site.

Please post if you might be interested in doing this.  Also, I'm not
sure about the weather - February is in the middle of the rainy
season, but Carlsbad probably doesn't get a lot of rain even then.
Can someone with local experience opine on that topic as well please?

Hey Bill,
I won't be part of the camp (simply because I live in the region) but there
is a state beach in Carlsbad with campgrounds.  Check it out:

Do note it is advised if you want to stay there GET RESERVATIONS!

Speaking as a local of San Diego county, rain months generally start around
November and end late March.  Note this part of California is costal desert
land(more brown hills than green ones) and rains that do come are short
(last a few hours to a day) and aren't very hard.  EXCEPTIONS, keep track of
weather along the Pacific coast now!  From time to time during winter, heavy
storms from Alaska can come in and San Diego gets the tail end of such
storms.  Coastal regions like Carlsbad fair well, its areas lying within
valleys or areas right next to shore (big surf) that get the worst.

Hope it helps,
