BrickFest™ 2002 is proud to announce the BrickFest Animation Competition
to be held at the Fest, July 19th to 21st in Washington, DC (Arlington,
Virginia).

The BrickFest Animation Competition is a competition among animation
entries based upon the rules and criteria detailed below:

The BrickFest Animation Competition honors the Star Wars Episode II,
Attack of the Clones movie currently out in theaters. The contestant
will make a 1 minute to 3 minute original animation using LEGO® Sets to
create a movie trailer for the current Star Wars movie, previous Star
Wars movies or the Star Wars Saga/Phenomenon in general. Animators may
use any LEGO® Set including non-Star Wars themed sets. The animator may
use any computer or video equipment or software to produce their
animation. Computer generated images and characters may be used as well,
in part or in whole throughout the animated short. Audio from the
original trailers or the movies themselves are permitted, but animators
are warned that this may violate the copyright of the owner of the
original work. Original audio is encouraged.

Entries may be submitted in only one of two formats. Movies may be
submitted on CD-Rom in the Quicktime, *.MOV format or they may be
submitted on video cassette, either VHS or Mini-DV. All entries must be
received no later than July 9th and must be sent to the address below.
Entries received with a postmark after the 9th of July will be returned
unopened. You may receive your entry back after the competition is over
by including a self-addressed, stamped envelope with postage pre-paid.

No fee is required for your entry.

There are two ways that you can win an award for your animation entry.
The audience present at the BrickFest 2002 Animation Competition
Extravaganza will vote to select the Audience Award for the best
animation of the entries presented. Each audience member will receive
one vote and the entry earning the most votes will win the Audience
Award.

The organizers of BrickFest will also select a winner based upon a list of
criteria. These criteria will include the quality of the animation, quality of
the lighting, quality of the sound, quality of the editing, and the closeness
to or the originality of the movie trailer (depending on which way you go).

You need not be present to win nor do you need to be in attendance at BrickFest
to submit an entry. All entries received by the 9th of July deadline will be
entered into the competition at the discretion of the BrickFest organizers.
Entries with objectionable content or audio not appropriate for audiences of
all ages will be removed from public showing and not judged in the competition.
In short, make your trailers "G" rated for all audiences to see.
