...This sounds cool :-) I also would like to see the pirate stuff set up in its
own spaces, lockable if at all possible...
...Possible ideas:
...Use the "back corner room", the one we set castle in last time (Castle was
moving to the room we had discussions in last time).
...I think Christina was thinking this would be a good talk/discussion room, but
the talks don't need to be in a lockable room, so maybe they can be held in the
cafeteria (which is ours this year, IIRC :-) We can use a corner of the
cafeteria for talks (like near the vending machines), so if its a big talk it
can spill out into the general cafeteria space.
...This way the room is lockable and not in a main walk area, but close enough
to "the action" that interested people can stick their heads in and interested
pirates can jump out as needed.
(moving into free association/babbling mode here)
...The only problem I see with this theory is that the room isn't all that big,
it could likely host a fleet about the size we had last year, but not any
bigger... (I could also be misremembring things... with no tables about, the
room may be plenty big)...
...So you may want to limit how many ships/teams are about (with an additional
option that maybe we can "charge" for the event (like $5) to limit wanderers
with proceeds going to a nice prize or trophy or something?).
...If there is any limit, maybe designate a ship/fleet to be "open" and
controlled by people just wandering in... to give them a feel for the game...
maybe even vote by bystanders :-)
...Another idea if we go with a "limit" situation, is maybe once the "big" game
starts going good and if you have lieutenants you can trust to run the main
game, you could break off and run a "micro game" in the discussion area... Like
4 ships and 1 island on a table (so _very_ small)... Play for an hour to
demonstrate the concepts and rules to people not in the main game...
