It's been much reported on the news that the security clampdown on DC is having
an effect on drivers -- does that apply only to DC proper, or also to
surrounding communities such as Arlington? WAMALUG-locals would be the ones to
report.
I'm coming by Amtrak from Philadelphia, so I'll be double-checking their luggage
policy; and then by Metrorail
(http://www.wmata.com/metrorail/riding_metrorail.cfm, safety page:
http://www.wmata.com/metrorail/metrorail_safety.cfm) from Union Station to
Arlington. The Metro cops are known for being heavy-handed, so perhaps I should
pack my models in transparent, easily-opened containers? (It's not like
Boston's package-size restrictions during the DNC, anyway.)

| (...) Getting through security on amtrak might will probably be your biggest issue. I take the metro down to the FAA in the mornings, and there's no big deal about security. I also went to see my broker in the finnancial disctrict the other day (...) (20 years ago, 10-Aug-04, to lugnet.events.brickfest)
