I am basically 'me too-ing' what Mark said, but I think he was working on
the same point that I was.
As for what Bryan said about San Francisco being central, yes it would be,
if you were talking about only California. But there are groups in
Washington, and Western Canada with members interested in this kind of
meeting, don't want to go all the way to California.
And I agree if there was a meeting in Carlsbad (I think that's where
Legoland is) that there would be time taken away from the actual meeting
during activity at Legoland, which wouldn't be (as far as I know) the point
of a Brickfest West.
And as for Ross Crawford, he drove from Los Angeles, or somewhere else in
California to Toronto, and back again, not to mention flying to and from
Australia, so I don't really think we can compare the time and effort he
took for his whirlwind tour of the US and Canada to what someone would do
for a weekend for Brickfest somewhere on the west coast.
And I do understand that if people wanted to attend a 'fest in Seattle,
Portland or Vancouver, they would have to drive as far as someone coming
from the other way, which IMHO is what some of the people from California
are expecting others to do. Maybe some AFOL in California have less of a
problem that others in driving long distances, who knows.
And let D.C have Brickfest, I'm sure someone will come up with a name for an
event on the west, if one actually gets organized.
