In organizing my photos, I've been using descriptive identifiers such as
"BricksWest-2003", "NWBrickCon-2002", and "BrickFestPDX-2004" in directory
names and filenames.  These get the job done, but they're becoming unweildy
to deal with in long names like this:

   talk-BricksWest2003-keynote-NTSC-Pixlet.mov

So I'm thinking of abbreviating event names so that I can name files like
this instead:

   talk-BW2-keynote-NTSC-Pixlet.mov

This is purely for personal use -- I'm not suggesting there be a standard
for abbreviations.  But I want to get them correct.  Here's what I'm thiking
of using...

   BF  = BrickFest
   BW  = BricksWest
   LW  = LEGOWorld
   NWB = NorthWest BrickCon (or NWBrickCon)
   TSL = 1000steine-Land ("Tausend Steine Land")

Thus:

   BF1    BrickFest 2000         2000.06
   BF2    BrickFest 2001         2001.07
   BF3    BrickFest 2002         2002.08
   BF4    BrickFest 2003         2003.08
   BF5    BrickFest PDX 2004     2004.02
   BF6    BrickFest DC 2005      2004.08

   BW1    BricksWest 2002        2002.02
   BW2    BricksWest 2003        2003.02

   LW1    LEGOWorld 2001         2001.10
   LW2    LEGOWorld 2002         2002.10
   LW3    LEGOWorld 2003         2003.10
   LW4    LEGOWorld 2004         2004.10

   NWB1   NWBrickCon 2002        2002.10
   NWB2   NWBrickCon 2003        2003.10
   NWB3   NWBrickCon 2004        2004.10

   TSL1   1000steine-Land 2003   2003.07
   TSL2   1000steine-Land 2004   2004.07

Does this make sense and have I missed anything?

Is it correct to think of BrickFest PDX 2004 as the 5th BrickFest?  (That's
how I think of it.)

My only problem with these abbreviations is that TSL for 1000steine-Land
tends to confuse me because TSL is also my initials.  Any suggestions on
alternatives for this one?

(...) All sounds logical to me...except that numbering scheme. I would start at 0 for 2000, just to keep it simple (see next line) (...) Technically yes, but I hate when people think like that, 'cuz it makes my brain hurt (my brain is slow and can't (...) (21 years ago, 20-Mar-04, to lugnet.events, FTX)

(...) How about these examples: BF02 BF2004 BFPDX04 BF4-1 BF04.2 NWBC03 BFDE04 ;) MSL - M = 1000 (Roman) KSL - K = 1000 (Metric) -brickmodder (...) (21 years ago, 20-Mar-04, to lugnet.events)
