Florida AFoL Fest? (was: West Coast Brick Fest - concerns and hopes)

(...) OK I going to add fuel to the fire... (...) I with you here... April-May hotel/airfare rates are high for spring break Orlando area, but I bet Nov-Dec is not much better. All in all it's Orlando with rooms-o-plenty, always a good deal! (...) (...) (23 years ago, 13-Aug-03, to lugnet.events, lugnet.loc.us.fl, lugnet.org.us.gflug)

  Venue clarifications

It's been voiced to me that there is some confusion on our venue this year. Because of responses from last year we have worked very hard to secure a space that is more "ours." We have rented a conference room. This means we have much more control (...) (23 years ago, 13-Aug-03, to lugnet.events.nwbrickcon, lugnet.general)

Re: West Coast Brick Fest - concerns and hopes

(...) -snipped a LOT of great stuff, read it if you haven't- (...) It feels really good to read comments and ideas like that. One idea I'm thinking of and no doubt will be talking with the LUGOLA gang with in a few weeks is the idea of a local con (...) (23 years ago, 13-Aug-03, to lugnet.events)

  Re: BrickFest(TM) PDX 2004 Announcement

(...) Steve, I really hate being petty about this, and if I sound like an school kid who didn't get picked to play kick ball I apologize. However, was the exclusion of Lugola here an oversight or an intentional slight? Back before Matt took over (...) (23 years ago, 13-Aug-03, to lugnet.events)

Re: West Coast Brick Fest - concerns and hopes

(...) Eric --- two words: You ROCK. I think you hit every possible nail on the head - seriously. LUGOLA is having a meeting in a few days - hop on a plane and get out here! I am sure this will be one of the topics on the plate at the meeting - there (...) (23 years ago, 13-Aug-03, to lugnet.events)

Re: West Coast Brick Fest - concerns and hopes

(...) Indeed, and just like Christina said, "Don't expect that next year's fest will be held in Wa. DC , althought that's what they (we) are shooting for." Having alternatives like the advantages Altlanta has is a good thing to remember. Plus as a (...) (23 years ago, 13-Aug-03, to lugnet.events)

Re: West Coast Brick Fest - concerns and hopes

(...) Hmm, looking at my trusty map, and considering the NE corner of the US as Boston and the SE corner as Orlando (taking places that have known centers of AFOLdom), then DC is closer to the NE corner. Let's see how the quarters of the year stack (...) (23 years ago, 13-Aug-03, to lugnet.events)

Re: West Coast Brick Fest - concerns and hopes

(...) Eric, What corner of the U.S. is VA in? If you really wanted a corner, Atlanta would be the place, and we have not one but two LEGO stores....of course I'm just messing with you since there is no way I would put myself though what the (...) (23 years ago, 13-Aug-03, to lugnet.events)

West Coast Brick Fest - concerns and hopes

Whew, I'm in Lego Recovery after Brick Fest! I just wanted to say a few things about this very important issue. Firstly, I don't know where the heck Matt Gerber is, but I hope he is ok and I hope nothing ill happened to him. Secondly, The PBX event (...)   Re: Huge Fabuland display at Brickfest

(...) If I am not mistaken, the Fabuland guy had WamaLug printed on his name badge. Either that or I just noticed he had a local Virginia address on his badge. So, someone in WamaLug or WamaLTC should know who he is. I spoke with him during tear (...) (23 years ago, 12-Aug-03, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.fabuland)

  Re: BrickFest(TM) PDX 2004 Announcement

Hi Mark, Thanks for summarizing your concerns! I got thru most of the old thread and it started to hurt my head! :) Since most of these decisions where made by many people I'll use the word we. But please everyone don't misunderstand that "we" (...) (23 years ago, 12-Aug-03, to lugnet.events)

  Re: BrickFest(TM) PDX 2004 Announcement

(...) Not entirely true. I think it would be nice to come up with a good overall name for the rotating con, but I would submit Worldcon as something that has a different name each year. In fact, Worldcon really isn't the official constant name (...) (23 years ago, 12-Aug-03, to lugnet.events)

Re: Brickfest 2003 Question and Answer

(...) Out of random curiosity, I just called the Orlando LIC and got a very surprising answer: 30 days (maybe a little longer), but pickabrick appears to be just around the corner. Ray (23 years ago, 12-Aug-03, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.market.shopping)

  Re: Saturday General Session Announcements

(...) Last year we were unable to control the venue since we were spread out all over the Center House. This year, since we have our own room, we will be able to close the doors and tell them to come back the next day. Having more private hours was (...)   Re: BrickFest(TM) PDX 2004 Announcement

(...) Steve, First and foremost, let me wish you luck with this event, and let me also thank you for taking this on - I know it is in no way a small task. You should be applauded for taking this on. But at the same time I do have concerns about this (...) (23 years ago, 12-Aug-03, to lugnet.events)

  Re: BrickFest(TM) PDX 2004 Announcement

Woohoo! I think I'll make it, I was saving leave days for Brickswest, with it being in OR the leave days will be more well used! I hope to be there every day, lots of trains, fire engines, town...;-) Josh (23 years ago, 12-Aug-03, to lugnet.events)

  Re: Saturday General Session Announcements

(...) That will help (last year the public did continue past the 4 PM time frame as I recall). The concern I still have is having enough energy after catering to the public for 6 hours. I know that when a show is over for the day, I don't feel like (...) (23 years ago, 12-Aug-03, to lugnet.events.brickswest, lugnet.events.brickfest)

  Re: BrickFest(TM) PDX 2004 Announcement

(...) I know this question is going to come up, so I will answer it now. The PDX is the airport 3 letter/digit designator for the Portland airport. Or you can assume any of the following versions of what PDX means: BrickFest PDX - Pretty Dam (...) (23 years ago, 12-Aug-03, to lugnet.events)

  Re: Brickfest 20003

(...) Just to help make sure people get the proper credit, the maze and sumo events were both run by John Barnes, with the help of David Schilling, as they have for the last couple years. The rtlToronto group only ran Saturday's Pipe Racers. They (...) (23 years ago, 12-Aug-03, to lugnet.events)
