About a month ago I started eyeing the DUPLO Purple Hippo sets
(http://guide.lugnet.com/set/2488).  I had an idea for using the 2 purple
hippos in that set along with the purple and lavendar parts that I was
starting to accumulate from the Belville sets I recently purchased.

I finally lucked out today and found the set on clearance at the KB Toys
store near where I work (Rt. 1, north of Richmond, VA at VA Center Commons
Mall).  I almost didn't see the hippos because they were on the top shelf
above my line of vision.

After poking through the small section for clearance items (didn't find much
- only 7111 & 7121 sets) I went to check in the back corner of the store on
the top shelf where I know this KB keeps a few LEGO sets.  Perched high on
top was the Purple Hippo!  When I turned back to look at the main LEGO
section (such as it is) I saw that there were more on the very top shelf of
that section.

They were marked down to 9.99 (from the KB mark-up price of 22.99) so I
grabbed 2 of them.  Now I've got all the Purple Hippos I could ever want
(perhaps).

BTW - I'm going to use the hippos as decoration for the MOC I'm going to put
together for use in RichLUG's future town/train display.  Stay tuned for
announcements concerning the opening of the hottest new plastic night club
in Brickmond - The Purple Hippo.

The large hippo will decorate the outside front of the building.  The
smaller ones will be used to as part of the revolving bar that will be in
the center of the club.

There are green 2x2 eyeball bricks in the set and some of the 3 stud long
bricks with the rounded end (and only 2 studs on top).  Otherwise the set is
just a bunch of basic DUPLO bricks that I really don't have much use for (I
already have a pretty good stockpile of used ones to use as interior
supports in my building projects).

Anyway, I'm happy to have my hippos and wanted to share the purplelicious joy!

G.
