This thread has stuck in my mind for a while.
First, a better link to the picture I meant to show in my original reply. (Bad
form, I know... replying to my own post, but I’m fixing a poor FTX posting and
adding new info... and using a new newsgroup, so I hope I can be forgiven) :)

My own wish is for a piece like this:
Not very fancy, but it might be nice to have. :)

Then a picture of an idea I had the other day while looking at a favorite LEGO
set.
This could be available in two versions. The first, as shown above with a stud
on one side and a tube on the other. Then another, with two (or even four)
studs on the sides, much like the 1x1 bricks currently available.(1)

| I missed this part of the thread when it first happened.. well better late than never. (...) That would be a totally AWESOME piece to have. Just think of all the applications... vehicles (tanks, air filters, engine parts, crane , chemical plants, (...) (20 years ago, 28-Aug-04, to lugnet.parts, FTX)
