The stuff I gave was just an example of countless sets that would sell • for a
huge profit... If only TLC would realize it...

The stuff you mentioned also sells at those outrageous prices BECAUSE they
are not available from TLC or through normal retail channels.  It's all
supply and demand.  If TLC were to re-release the metroliner, for example,
prices would quickly return back to normal MSRP.

The only advantage from a sales point of view to re-releasing old sets would
be that there is already an existing market for them.  The question is, is
that market big enough to support a large production run?  Will everyone
that now says they'd buy the set actually buy one?  Market dynamics are alot
different when you know that the set isn't produced anymore and you think
that  this might be your last chance to get it, even if it does cost you 2x
MSRP.  How many people would wait around until the set was on clearance?

The question that needs to be answered is if the sets in question would
appeal to NEW customers, as in people who don't remember the first time they
were released.  Classic space is a good example. I would like the sets, as
would many people here.  But would your average kid?  The sets are somewhat
dated.

I think that TLC would be better off to make NEW sets, but that they should
return to the design principles that led to the sets that are now considered
to be their best work.  I'd be happy with a new theme that was in the spirit
of Blacktron or classic space or whatever your favorite theme is.
