Brad,

Of course you already know this, but I'll state the obvious again.  Parts that are
in high demand and pull down ludicrous prices on Ebay:

Train doors and windows (WITH proper train glass!)
Rolling garage doors

The train doors and windows, and rolling garage door bricks (both 1x2 and 1x14) are
all current parts available in sets last year, but are still very hard to get.  The
garage door SLATS, however, haven't been in any sets for years.

I would buy dozens of 1x14 slotted bricks, and hundreds of 1x2 slotted bricks if I
could get them in the colors I want - the 1x2s are in 6097 in red, and the 1x14s
are in blue in a Ninja set.  I desperately need them in black, red, and yellow, and
desire the slats in white.  If TLC would mold them in other colors, I'd want some
green, tan, orange, LIGHT blue, etc, etc.

If you pulled the slat molds out of mothballs, I'd buy hundreds as a FIRST order,
if not a thousand.  Paying $20-30 for a single garage door on Ebay, USED parts at
that, is galling.

TLC used to have a garage door service pack, a complete door, ready to go, for
about $10.  If they could sell the individual parts so that I could build a door in
the colors I wanted, I'd gladly pay $10-15 per door.  I have a use for 100 doors
easily, and judging by the bidding frenzy on separate doors or sets that include
doors on Ebay, there are MANY more people willing to buy many doors.

And what (I hear you saying) about bulk buying? Well, it's definitely
happening. We are working right now on determining how many items we can offer
initially - though I should tell you, it will necessarily be a limited number
at first as we test our manufacturing and distribution capabilities for this.
In addition to a selection of standard bricks, we will also be offering a dozen
or so "non-standard" items which we will, in a couple of weeks, want to have
your input on. (Start mobilizing those votes for windows now.) Also, we will
not be offering items which are currently out of production, at least for some
time (I can't make any promises here.) And, once again, the target for
delivering this service to you is late summer. I'll have more details on bulk
buying, as I said, in two or three weeks.

an update -- and an apology

To everyone at LUGNET: My apologies for what may have been the longest recorded case of AFK ("away from the keyboard") in recent memory. But believe me, it was all in a good cause - I think all LEGO enthusiasts (and particularly AFOLs) will be (...) (24 years ago, 28-Feb-00, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.general) !
