The 9790 Team Challenge set is the educational version of the RIS 1.0.
Lego parts-wise they're exactly the same, mostly black beams and yes the
RCX 1.0 with AC adapter.
There is a Constructopedia with a medley of sub-assemblies from
Mindstorms, Robosports and Extreme Creatures.
The Team Challenge set is more expensive than the RIS and further the
ROBOLAB software and manual has to be bought separately. The only plus
is that it comes in a nice storage box with plastic trays for parts
organisation.
The Dacta stuff are generally more pricey than the retail sets. Also the
parts in the Dacta sets are plain old Technic parts - you will not find
the fancy new parts that you will get in the RIS 1.5 retail sets.
IMHO you would be better off buying the RIS 1.5 or waiting for the RIS
2.0
