Kevin, That was one of my original conspiracy theories about the new colors -- that LEGO had to change the manufacturing process in some way (regulations or whatever), so they formulated a new plastic that would eventually age to look like the old. At work we’ve got these sterile vent hoods for working with cell culture, and they use UV radiation to kill any bacteria that get inside when you’re done for the day. I could bring some new bricks up and try the theory out. The only drawback is that I’d probably get fired...

(...) Small price to pay in the name of science. Get irradiating! Dave! (21 years ago, 10-May-04, to lugnet.color, FTX)

(...) Oh my, this sounds interesting. I'm gonna have to do some experimenting with the EEPROM burner. Oh wait, I don't have enough new bricks to do the experiment and keep a control set around. Oh well. (21 years ago, 10-May-04, to lugnet.color, FTX)

Forgive me if this has been resolved already, but has anyone tested out UV radiation exposure on the new greys(bleys)? So, here's the assignment: All of you that have no use for the new colours you were tricked into buying, leave them out in the sun (...) (21 years ago, 10-May-04, to lugnet.color)
