Hello out there!
I know, they would probably never make one as great as we all could, and it
probably would not have all the features I'd want. But if this "design it
yourself online, then buy it" thing turns out to be true for 2002, I'm gonna
be busy!
What would you include? Would you stick to the Castle theme? Which
sub-themes would you use? How many pieces would yours be? If I had my way,
an official (or custom) model would be a real good set to suppliment my
Castle world's forces and bricks. Each character would be able to be
incorporated into regular System play/building (NOT like 2001 Racer *blech*
stuff.). Let me know what this idea does for you.
I'm working on a MOC Chess set including a 628 X-large Baseplate (subject to
change), about 100 plus (most likely plus, but we'll see) pieces for the
surface and boarder, and 296 (firm) pieces for the minifigures, movement
platforms and accessories of each King, Queen, Bishop, Knight, Rook and Pawn
(32 minifigures total). I'm using mostly a Fright Knights vs. Royal Knights
theme with a lot of fantasy elements thrown in (a la Battle Chess for you
folk who remember the old Amiga based game that spawned many copies). Each
character has what I consider to be necessary battlefield elements and
decorative pieces to show their social position within each kingdom and
which side they fight for. When I get the project how I like it, I'll post
a photo, piece count and an estimated cost to buy from TLC's program hinted
at here on Lugnet for 2002 (I hope they fulfill that promise!). I'm
guessing that it'd run more than $90.00 for a boxed model from TLC, but hey,
if they can do a Soccer field and a Millenium Falcon, I can hope! Actually,
if you look at the prices for collector quality chess sets, that is cheap!
Please follow up to this if you've done it yourself, or think it'd be worth
TLC's time to offer something like this.
Heck, I'd buy 'em just for parts (who wouldn't :)
