I, too, saw that note and wondered about it.  John, your logic is very clear
-- are there any facts to back up this seller's claim?  I own at least 4 of
those sets (my *favorite*) and  would love to see some response here.

In lugnet.castle, John DiRienzo writes:
In this auction for the LEGO 6067 Guarded Inn, the seller claims, "HARD
TO FIND DUE TO THE FACT THE U.S. DISCONTINUED THE IMPORT DUE TO THE FACT OF
IT PROMOTING DRINKING."
I agree that the Guarded Inn is hard to find and that it was never sold
in US stores, but I had never heard before that "promoting drinking" had
anything to do with why the set was not available here.  If this is actually
true, then what were the reasons?  Are there US laws that say children's
toys can not promote drinking?  Or did LEGO make this decision simply due to
marketing strategies and to avoid confrontation?  Is he implying some
government agency or law stopped the importation of this set?  It appears
that the seller is saying exactly that, and I find that very interesting.
I seriously doubt that this is true, but I am interested in hearing
anything that would substantiate the claim made by the seller.  There are a
few reasons I don't think it is true:
1 - there are a variety of sets that were sold in Europe that were not
available in the USA, including promos and normal (non-promotional) sets.
Some numbers, from the Castle theme alone: 6011, 6023, 6055, 6067.  There
are also numerous Space and Town System sets that were only sold in Europe
and not in the USA.
2 - Sets 6060 "Knights Challenge" and 6066 "Camouflaged Outpost" and many
others include "drinking equipment", such as kegs (for wine, beer, or LEGNOG
(TM)) and goblets in assorted colors.

Here is the auction, for anyone who is curious:

If I am correct, that is the second 6067 with that note as part of its description in the past week or two. I posted about it but noone responded answering my question. Nice rare set -- I think I saw it in a SAH catalog around 1990 or whenever it (...) (24 years ago, 11-Dec-00, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.general, lugnet.market.auction)
