OK while I don't particularly like this piece either let me try and come up
with a very weak defence for TLC making this part.

Given the space that TLC decided to give for the entrance and the particular
style of entrance (a porticullis) and if you want the architechural look that
the inverted 2x2 slopes gives then the had to do this. Let me say that
again... they had to do this given the constraints given above.
This is because the porticullis gate must slide up through the center of the
part. If they had used 2x2 inverted slopes they would have blocked the slot
through which the gate must pass.

All that being said I believe that another solution could have and probably
should have been figured out before taking the cheap way out and making this
almost POOP.
