The Vorgem Marshes have swallowed yet another group of victims! This time a
small wagon carrying farm workers was found run off the county roadway, axle
deep in the smelly swampland with nary a sole in sight. Clearly the Gobragee
Beast still lives though his mistress was destroyed when father McKenzie razed
the Waspra mansion (tragically ending his own life in the destruction).
With the narrow roadway that passes through the marshes being the quickest way
of commerce to the capitol, this is the last straw for a people that thought a
supernatural threat finally ended. But they have at last amassed sufficient
funds to afford a small band of mercenaries announcing themselves as monster
hunters.
Prepared with a large iron cage and two sturdy horses that seem to panic at
nothing, the heavily armored weapons master, his squire and an experienced
tracker set out on a late afternoon to scour the unfriendly marshlands of
Vorgem County!
Carts and coaches are of particular interest to me in the Castle theme (adding
to traveling options other than simple horses), so I jumped at the recent
opportunity to pick one up.
6042 is a simple model consisting of a single horse-drawn cart with a prison
cell taking up the main portion of the wagon. Barred doors are located on each
side of the wagon (hinging on spears that are part of each door's construction)
with no particular locking mechanism in place. There is room at the front of
the wagon for the driver to sit and a couple of clips located at the rear of
the wagon hold weapons or a banner. A second horse accompanies the cart along
with two crusader knights and a forestman minifig.
The set is small enough that there isn't a very good assortment of bricks for
alternate models but the principal model itself is a lot of fun and provides a
perfect wheel base to create different cart or wagon variations.
I consider the set worth picking up for the lion crest crusader knights that
all but disappeared after this set's 1990 release. There is a minimal number
of weapons here but mixture of knights and a woodsman make for a perfect small
set to take along when traveling.
