Is this for real? —Mark Chittenden
Found this while browsing Brickshelf. Supposed to be from a German LEGO catalog, but this castle's elements look SOOO un-LEGO. (URL) (20 years ago, 28-May-04, to lugnet.castle)

(...) and its Duplo!!!! and that's odd, 'cos I think that 3 year olds are a little young for the boiling oil over the gate detail !!! JB (20 years ago, 28-May-04, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Is this for real? —David Gregory
(...) Although it looke like that cauldron over the gate has a hay bail in it. Maybe the guys in the castle are trying to feed their enemies' horses. That would be OK for 3 year olds. ; ) (20 years ago, 29-May-04, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.duplo)

(...) Looks like PhotoShopped PlayMobile to me. -Rob. (20 years ago, 29-May-04, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Is this for real? —Chris Paton
(...) Hi Rob I really hope you are right! But if it is Photoshop it is well done. It reminds me also of the Fisherprice toy knights. Chris (20 years ago, 30-May-04, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Is this for real? —James Powell
(...) It looks like Tyco. No LEGO on the studs you can see, and what looks like 1/2 thickness plates. This could be a construct using a variety of bits & pieces (megablocks, Tyco, Lego), but I don't think it is lego, and I really doubt Duplo. Think (...)          Re: Is this for real? —Lindsay Frederick Braun
(...) Yes, and how big the margin would be. It could quite easily be real DUPLO, designed to compete with the Fisher-Price Castle. As far as its not having "LEGO" on the studs, most of them look hollow as DUPLO tends to be; furthermore, those (...) (20 years ago, 30-May-04, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Is this for real? —James Powell
(...) It wouldn't shock me. But, if you look at the castle front, it is 32 studs (regular) across the front of the tan baseplate. That'd make it something like 48 studs across the whole front. That seems quite big to me. (mind you, it is a $130-150 (...) (20 years ago, 31-May-04, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Is this for real? —Mark Papenfuss
(...) One of the things that made me question it are the figs. Those are NOT Duplo figs as we know them.... BUT then I saw the new Duplo sets on S@H - well see for yourself: (URL) -- check the fig standing. So it looks like Lego is changing MORE (...)          Re: Is this for real? —Deidre Rushton Brumby
There are enough obviously real Duplo pieces in there (horse, pot, 2*2 and 4*2 bricks, various plates, sloped bricks, ladder, ball) for me to think this is probably real, and as Mark pointed out the figs in the picture do compare well with the new (...)         Re: Is this for real? —Terry Prosper
(...) I'd say LEGO, the brown is reddish and the grays are crappy... (20 years ago, 31-May-04, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Is this for real? —John Carroll
(...) I always thought that the idea of Dublo was fun toys for young kids that didn't have small parts that could be swallowed, or poke kids in the eye. these sets looks like they have parts that could be swallowed or poke kids in the eye. of course (...)         Re: Is this for real? —John Carroll
(...) Sorry to reply to my own post but. . . look at the peice holding up the flame on the left on the big castle. is that blue stuff paint a reflection or what? weird. (20 years ago, 31-May-04, to lugnet.castle)
