Hello!

   I didn’t realize it was a US-only set.

How were you supposed to know! OK, I don’t know if this set was available in Canada, too. However, for Canadians it is much easier to get sets from the US than for us poor Europeans :-)

   Weren’t there also some Europe-only castle sets?

I don’t think so. Well, we got the Yellow Castle some years before its release in North America (#375: 1978; #6075: 1981), and maybe we had better access to the Guarded Inn 6067 because it was not just an Shop-at-Home special here but was sold on retail. Otherwise there have been much more Non-Europe-sets than Non-US-sets, considering all of those value packs and bonus packs and so on.

Non-Europe-Castle-sets are:

LEGO > SYSTEM > Castle > {Mini-Figures}

That’s just the list of Castle sets that were not available here. Of course there were many sets from other themes too, that were US-only (or Kabaya-only, that means only released in Japan). Aside from these sets that were not released in Germany at all there are some sets that were not in German catalogue and only sold in particular shops. As for Castle for example these are

    6024 Bandit Ambush
58 elements, 2 figures, US$6.50, 1996
LEGO > SYSTEM > Castle > Dark Forest

    6046 Hemlock Stronghold
213 elements, 5 figures, US$24, 1996
LEGO > SYSTEM > Castle > Dark Forest

    6079 Dark Forest Fortress
461 elements, 7 figures, US$50, 1996
LEGO > SYSTEM > Castle > Dark Forest

I missed the Dark Forest series completely when these sets were released in 1996 because I did not even expect TLC to release sets that are not in catalogue, so I did not search for these particular shops that were selling them...

However, I don’t want to complain :-) Meanwhile I was able to add most of these sets to my collection. And if these sets had been available where I live it wouldn’t have been so much fun to hunt for them.

BTW, Castle sets that were probably not available in the US/North America (but also not in Germany though) are:

    1584 Knight's Challenge
160 elements, 8 figures, 1988
LEGO > SYSTEM > Castle > Crusaders

    1680 {Crusader's Cart}
61 elements, 3? figures, 1990
LEGO > SYSTEM > Castle > Forestmen

...and of course all of those Kabaya-sets.

That’s it.

Bye, Jojo

FTX is fun :-)

(...) Really?? Wow. My fiancee (now wife) got me this set -- I think in recognition that my Lego "vice" was here to stay. I didn't realize it was a US-only set. Weren't there also some Europe-only castle sets? (...) (21 years ago, 3-Jun-03, to lugnet.castle, FTX)
