I believe most of the early castle sets were "connectable". I can assure you
about 6040, 6041, 6080 and 6081 (the last one can only be connected on one
side). I believe 6073/4 were also connectable, plus some wall sections.
Why don't you check the instructions for the 60xx series in brickshelf?

Was there some suggested order, or
did you just connect them up as you fancied?

Personally, I never knew of any order for the linkage. As long as the sets
look cool... ;-)
A reason for a lack of "pre-arranged layout" is the different release dates.
But this is pure speculatiion of mine.

Having spent the heyday of the castle years in my Dark Ages, I'm making a belated foray into Castle. I have made a couple of the older sets using brickshelf instructions (with a lot of substitution of pieces) and I have now (finally) acquired one of (...) (23 years ago, 23-Dec-01, to lugnet.castle)
