I believe most of the early castle sets were "connectable". I can assure you
about 6040, 6041, 6080 and 6081 (the last one can only be connected on one
side). I believe 6073/4 were also connectable, plus some wall sections.
Why don't you check the instructions for the 60xx series in brickshelf?

Personally, I never knew of any order for the linkage. As long as the sets
look cool... ;-)
A reason for a lack of "pre-arranged layout" is the different release dates.
But this is pure speculatiion of mine.

| Having spent the heyday of the castle years in my Dark Ages, I'm making a belated foray into Castle. I have made a couple of the older sets using brickshelf instructions (with a lot of substitution of pieces) and I have now (finally) acquired one of (...) (23 years ago, 23-Dec-01, to lugnet.castle)
