OK, I haven't really created a "world" yet, but so far here is what it is
roughly ike faction-wise. BTW, my fave faction is the Black Falcons

There are two main kingdoms, Kingdom A and B, which have rivalled each oter
for centuries, and often go to war with each other.

One kingdom (call it kingdom A) is ruled by the crusaders. The yellow lion on a
blue field is the crest of the King, and therefore all his soldiers. The crest
of the blue lion on a yellow field, is the crest of the King's brother, who is
a reliable ally with the King.

The crossed axe crusaders are a completely different faction altogether. Their
crossed axes symbolise that they are guardians of the realm, and they occupy a
border fortress on the outskirts of the kingdom, bordering the sea.

The Black Falcons are the soldiers of a powerful independent Duke who is
theoretically under the command of the King. His coat of arms is the blue
rimmed Falcon shield. The yellow rimmed falcon shield belongs to some relation
of his (brother?), who leads black clad men (In other words, not with the blue
falcon surcoats. The falcons (of both types) live on an island off the coast of
Kingdom A and are a strong sea power.

The forestmen's crest is used for a seperate faction, who are not outlaws in
the forest at all, but are tough hardy soldiers. They guard the borders to
Kingdom B from a yet-to-be-built wooden fortress (much like the one in
Braveheart).

The Wolfpack's crest is also used for a faction of noble knights, under the
command of the Crusaders. Of course there are all kinds of outlaws and ranger
types in the forests and stuff, but they don't have any kind of heraldic coat
of arms, they are just lowly commoners who have turned to robbry and stuff.

The other realm, call it Kingdom B, is commanded by a different king. He has
the other more modern, lion crest (with the red and white background. He
commands huge forces, but is old and decrepid, and his oldest son is a weak,
undecisive young man. His younger son, whose shield has the lion with the blue
and yellow background, is very popular, having just returned loaded with booty,
from a successfull crusade in the faroff lands well off the map. He has
aspirations for the throne himself, commands a small crack fighting force, and
has the people's support. The future of kingdom B is instable.

The DMs are a mysterious faction who occupy the northern mountains to Kingdom
B. No one knows much about them, but it is rumoured that they have allied
themselves with the green dragons. They have intervened a handful of battles on
the side of Kingdom B.

The Black knights, are one of the leading factions in Kingdom B, loyal to the
royal family. If a civil war should break out, it is uncertain who they would
support.

The original castle men from back in the 80s, (the guys with red and white
shields with a thick blue rim, are another faction in Kingdom B, and are
fiercely allied to the present king and his eldest son. (Has anyone else
noticed that their coat of arms is similar although not identical with the Lion
shields except for the lion emblem?)

The batlord is so intricly "evil" that he doesn't fit so well into my realm
where everyyone is a "goodie" and "baddie" and the same time. I guess he sits
in some mountain castle and plots evil things on all everyone else.

All the other factions, like the various knights that came with the
original yellow castle etc, are  various lee iomportant knights who live in the
various kingdoms, but don't have any huge castles or armies. Not that I
actually have any of them myself anyway.
