| | 5 New Castle Buildings
|
| Hey all, I'm taking a bit of a break from my Brick Tower project, and after finding numerous old grey bricks in PAB at the new CA lego stores, I started working on some Castle buildings. Here they are: The Bakery: (URL) The Church: (URL) The (...) (20 years ago, 25-Sep-04, to lugnet.castle)

| (...) We need to set up some kind of donation drive for extra bandwidth for this guy. I would really love to see bigger pictures of his MOC's. The small image size for most of his stuff on Brickshelf doesn't do justice to the great detail and (...) (20 years ago, 25-Sep-04, to lugnet.castle)

| (...) I may have used something like that, but the first time I remember seeing robes and rubber bands used in that way was in Paul Janssen's "Large Church" MOC, posted back on 10/31/02: (2 URLs) got the choir in red and white, but also a priest in (...) | (...) Thanks, Brendan. That's the effect I was going for. I'm glad it worked. The robe idea didn't come from you, did it? As I noted above I vaguely remember seeing something similar before. Bruce (20 years ago, 24-Sep-04, to lugnet.castle)

| (...) Thanks, Dave. I can't really claim the design as my own. I have a vague memory of seeing this sort of thing before, but when I went looking all I could find was custom capes people made as trenchcoats for Matrix figs: (URL) (20 years ago, 24-Sep-04, to lugnet.castle)

| Thanks, Marc. Any suggestion on how I could attach the chain? Or should I just have a chain that drapes across the whole front of the shelf? Bruce (20 years ago, 24-Sep-04, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

| This is a really nice little scene, Bruce. I will echo others in praise of the monk robes and recessed bookshelves. My favorite detail is the monk on the far right who has a scroll full of writing on the left and a blank scroll on the right. It very (...) (20 years ago, 24-Sep-04, to lugnet.castle)
| | | | Re: Why I kept my age a secret
|
| When critiquing I try to do a few things, most importantly provide encouragment, for some people its a big thing to present their new MOC to the world. I try to gauge the level of the builder (which isn't really an age thing) from the tone of their (...) | (...) I reckon you're pretty fair with your critiques, Paul. But you're right, they can be difficult, mainly because one is always unsure how they will be taken. Here's what I reckon: If you want your work critiqued, ask for it, even to the point of (...) (20 years ago, 24-Sep-04, to lugnet.people.teens, lugnet.space, lugnet.build, lugnet.castle, FTX)
| | | | Re: Why I kept my age a secret
|
| (...) Critiquing is tough. I've been giving ad-hoc critiques of almost everything for years and I still haven't got the hang of it... in fact, I often get the feeling that it has worked against my favour. I don't think I'd recommend it. Then again, (...) (20 years ago, 24-Sep-04, to lugnet.people.teens, lugnet.space, lugnet.build, lugnet.castle, FTX)

| snip (...) I think this important to note. I think alot of us, or at least myself, get stuck in a "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all" mentality. I will keep this in mind and try and do more critiquing... says the guy (...) (20 years ago, 24-Sep-04, to lugnet.people.teens, lugnet.space, lugnet.build, lugnet.castle)
