Hi,
this is one entry for Tim Goulds Disco Remix Challenge:
http://news.lugnet.com/cad/ray/?n=2685
The title Doomed Disco is not caused by the skeleton on the picture (which
meaning I do not understand :-(... ), it is the result of the fact, that
everything I have tried new to do in povray, failed.
Cool atmospheric things with media -> did not work. Glowing ground with lights look like-> did not work. Nice reflections on chrome parts -> of course didnt work.
So I present, what is left. It is more or less a result of some brute force
technic I often enjoy. Some technics:
-The scenery was untouched except moving the blaster spot lights and the bulb a
little bit for aesthetic reasons. And the white ground places where lowered for
a reason I have forgotten, since that was something which didnt work.
-Three minifig hairpieces were replaced manually be versions computed with the
one and only meshenhancer: http://members.aol.com/elferwette/LDraw/
-No walls were added, but the scenery is placed in a box containing a media:
box {<-220,60,-400>,<220,-220,350> pigment { rgbt 1 }
hollow interior { media { scattering { 1 <0.002,0.002,0.002> extinction 1 } samples 2 }} }
- Manymany lights were added:
Spotlights in the spotlights. Shadowless lights in front of the spotlights to make the spotlights looking lit. Few lights underneath the trans-red/blue floor. An overview light for the barkeeper.
- Radiosity was used but in an ordinary way.
- No special includes were used.
- Postprocessing was the black frame, rescaling from 1024x... to 800x... and
saving as jpg.
In the BS-folder is a version of the povray-source:

And I hope you enjoy it...

| Hi Andreas, Firstly, thanks for making a version. If this is the "doomed" version of the picture I'd love to see the long-lived version. It is really excellent and captures the look of a nightclub very well. I particularly like the lighting and the (...) (18 years ago, 5-Oct-06, to lugnet.cad.ray)
