In lugnet.cad.mlcad, Michael Horvath writes:
You can do this.
Just add the word "Unofficial" somewhere in the
description of the part. Then, rerun mklist.exe.
Afterward, edit the file MLCad.grp in the MLCad
directory.  To add a new category called "Unofficial",
you would add the following lines to MLCAd.grp:

Unofficial
<Unofficial

Also, remember to add 1 to the second number from the
top for every • category
that you add.
You could do this but it requires 2 things that are
rather undesirable:

-You have to go through all the unofficial part to make
sure that all of them had the word "Unofficial".  Since
the unofficial library currently • has
almost 1000 parts, this could be extremely time
consuming.

-You would have to unzip the unofficial parts into the
\PARTS and \P directories.  This is not a good idea for
a number of reasons.

Also, you don't have to hack the MLCad.grp file.  You
can add groups from within MLCad itself.  Go to
Setttings->Groups->Group Configuration.  Once the popup
appears, type in the name and search string for the new
group • and
click OK.

Don't the unofficial parts already have a comment line
saying Unofficial Part? So a simple way would be for
MLCad to allow groups to be based on comments lines as
well as the part name - no changes needed to parts files,
and no need to edit all those parts.

Unfortunately is this no option because MLCad looks for parts
in the parts.lst. And there are only the first lines of each
dat-file.
