I'm working on a program that automatically converts model descriptions • in
LDRAW DAT format and
creates step by step construction and part list images using L3P and
POV-Ray.  I'm almost ready for a beta release.

Very cool indeed!

How high a resolution / how large an image size will it be able to handle?
Any limits? Will it honor changes in line color defined in the • ldliterc.dat
file like LDLite does?

Image resolution comes into play in two ways:

Construction step images and part list images.

For construction images, you have complete control over image size.  The
only limits that exist are either those imposed by POV-Ray or by your
machine resources ;-)

Part list images are composed of part images.  The part images are produced
using L3P and POV-ray.  LPub allows two different windows for part
rendering:  print resolution (1600x1200) or screen resolution (640x480).
LPub started as a tool to help create print quality images for a
Constructopedia book that I'm helping Syngress publish.

For either of these resolutions, certain very large parts can be rendered at
half size.
For example RCX's, micro-scouts, long beans and lift-arms.

I'm waffling on the constrained resolution of part images.  Maybe I should
make it as flexible as construction images.  I'll get feedback after people
use it to help me decide.

I'm glad you like it.

I'm still very interested in an aswer to the ROTSTEP question, though.

Kevin
