There are a number of ways to do it. Probably the best way (for a
reasonable cost) would be to pick up a pair of consumer 3D shutter glasses,
which can be had for under $100. If you happen to own an nVidia-based video
card, you can download their stereoscopic 3D driver, which should work with
any of these shutter glasses, and has a whole bunch of options. In
addition, various of the glasses support video cards from various other
manufacturers.
These types of glasses work by having the 3D driver generate two images
(offset for the eye positions) instead of the standard single image, and
they do so transparently (ie, the application is unaware it is being done).
Just out of curiosity, I downloaded the nVidia driver, and turned on stereo
mode. When I then put LDView in fullscreen mode, it went into stereo mode.
This particular driver also contains support for red/blue glasses, but for
some reason this did not work with LDView.
I personally learned a number of years ago to view stereo images using the
cross-eyed technique, which is why I added it as an option to LDView. Once
I had the cross-eyed part implemented, the parallel version was just a
matter of switching the two images. I actually wanted to add hardware
stereo support, but even the nVidia stereo driver doesn't report itself as
being capable of stereo, as far as I could tell. Also, the fact that I
don't own any shutter glasses would have made it difficult to test.

| What do you guys know about viewing information in 3D on your screen? In LDView it shows the option for cross-eyed and parallel. What kind of different ways are there available to view this stuff on home pc? Are there special software platforms (...) (23 years ago, 17-Jan-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)
