  Re: Line in the Sand

[ Still discussing (URL) ] Steve: [...] (...) Correct. (...) J subfile command line, and it only influences the immediately J following subfile command. I don't think the "and nowhere else" is that important. You already have written "only". (...) (...) (25 years ago, 16-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Piece authoring question...

(...) would >LDraw represent a DAT which had layered images? For that matter, (...) If you layer the levels by a very small amount (.00001 or something), it'll render nicely in POV-Ray after being converted with L3P. However, it'll look awful in (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: part request or info

[Replying in .cad & .cad.dev to a message posted in .cad.dat.parts; Followups to .cad.dev] (...) Just a reminder -- (not to pick on Michael or anyone in particular): The .cat.dat.parts group is for posting parts in LDraw DAT format, plus any (...)   Piece authoring question...

When designing a part with a graphic on it, like a minifig torso, for instance, is it possible to "overlap" image shapes of different colors, or must there only be one "level" of image on a surface? How would LDraw represent a DAT which had layered (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: What is 'LDraw?'

(...) Should it stay this way, or should we move towards a more structured organization? If so, what are the criteria for membership? Does the group need a leader(s), and if yes, what is the role(s) of the leader(s)? (...) But it (or the JJ (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: What is 'LDraw?'

(...) Right now, the website pretty much *is* the organization. We don't have a membership list, or a secret handshake, or even a definition of who's in the group. I'm alright with this loose organization, but I feel that there isn't a big point of (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Line in the Sand

(...) I like your explanation better, but I think we're both missing the point: this paragraph is supposed to be about INVERTNEXT, not inversion. Fewer details are appropriate at this point. More details should go in (1) the explanation of inversion (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

I was able to get the links to work if I added "/images" before the part number and changed the "jpg" to "gif" -Phil (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade, lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: WTB: Some Of These Struts!

I think you got caught by the move. No doubt the old URLs were good when you composed your note but they are not any more. They all have moved to Lugnet. Specifically, to here: (URL) the start of the discussion: (URL) post: (URL) that links of the (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade, lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: What is 'LDraw?'

(...) I'd like to see that happen too. But AFAIK I don't know of any reply from Zach Benz on the question. If he gives the OK, I'm all for it. Jacob would have to write something to make it run, I'm a dud when it comes to programming. -Tim (URL) (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: What is 'LDraw?'

It would be great if the parts request list could be moved to LDraw.org. It's kind of hard to find. I'm having trouble trying to locate it now. Those darn *.shtml files... (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: What is 'LDraw?'

(...) I would have to disagree here. I clearly see 'ldraw.org' as a website, since that's the name the website has been given. But the group of people is an organization, who uses the site as its central resource for LDraw materials. The (...) (25 years ago, 15-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  LDraw and spatial awareness

I've noticed something peculiar, though it may just be a factor of my own stunted 3D visualization skills. I seem to have become noticeably better at planning Lego projects in my head. I don't mean simple buildings like basic Freestyle houses, but (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: What is 'LDraw?'

(...) I'd prefer that the group and website both go by ldraw.org. When refering specifically to the people, it would be 'ldraw.org group'. For the webpages, it would be 'ldraw.org site'. (...) Which updates? The new mklist.exe? Fixed versions of (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Line in the Sand

(...) Yes, it would render correctly, but it would also disable clipping more often than is required, in the case of mixed solid and transparent sections. Think of a submodel where the author used color 16, and the person using the submodel renders (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Line in the Sand

(...) It's an admin role vs. personal role thing. I took it upon myself to write up a spec, I didn't want to imply that it was endorsed by the group at large. (...) Hmmm. You're right. Inversion is no more global than accumulated clipping. They are (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: What is 'LDraw?'

Can we pick one newsgroup for this discussion? Please? (...) I don't see much of a need for this, other than saying programs can claim they are "LDraw Compatible". (...) Nah. Steve (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  LDraw DAT certification for clones?

Say, has anyone considered LDraw DAT file certification for clones? (I don't mean clone brands of LEGO bricks, I mean clone software of LDraw/LEdit/etc.) Some random thoughts... ldraw.org could maintain the official definition of the LDraw DAT file (...)
