Either of these is fine with me.

The 'without corners' name follows the precedent of existing LDraw pieces:
2450.DAT Plate 3 x 3 without Corner
2419.DAT Plate 3 x 6 without Corners
6106.DAT Plate 6 x 6 without Corner
2401.DAT Plate 10 x 10 without Corner
Another, somewhat similar, piece is the famous '3x4 notched trapezoid'.
Unfortunately, this piece has a wholly dissimilar name:
4859.DAT Wedge 3 x 4 Plate
Currently, no LDraw part uses the term 'tapered'.

None of these provide any description of shape, except for the brackets
with studs in two different directions. So this piece could be simply:
30250.DAT Bracket 4 x 7 x 3

You are correct. But the category name should have been 'Plant' to begin
with, to match the singular style of other categories.
