Hi, all. I've taken the liberty of fiddling around with the LSynth 2 source code
a little bit more to create an LSynth Service, a text-processing extension for
Mac OS X that lets you run LSynth just about anywhere you can edit text. The
service itself as well as much more information is available at the following

I have also posted the source code for my modifications to the actual command
line program. In summary, I've added a "filter" mode to lsynth that lets it read
from standard input and write to standard output. Lesser changes include case
and unrecognized line preservation, whitespace insensitivity, and other little
odds and ends. In general I've tried to make it a little more forgiving of how
the input files are formatted. I know that I've also probably broken a few
things and changed some other behavior, so don't treat it as a replacement for
the real deal.
For some reason it didn't register with me until I was writing that post that a
new version of LSynth is already under active development, so this is almost
certainly a step sideways rather than a step forward. Nevertheless, I hope that
someone can find a use for this, even if only as grist for discussion!
