And 1 x 4 and 2 x 2 groups are common enough to get at least 7 lines saved. In the 700.dat you posted, just using 1 x 4 (...) (21 years ago, 18-Nov-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

If you use a display list (or similar construct) for each subfile you'll be using less display list memory overall, which might lead to faster rendering.
