There is a link to the LDraw FAQ on the LUGNET cad.ldraw page
(http://www.lugnet.com/cad/ldraw/). The FAQ is at
http://www.ldraw.org/memorial/archive/FAQ/. This has some good stuff on
understanding the LDraw "language" and authoring new parts. LDAO with the
preview window is my preferred authoring tool.
I you get stuck or need help, you can post questions to lugnet.cad.dat. The
more specific the question, the more likely you are to get a useful answer -
so try things out first yourself. Non-planar decorated parts (like heads)
are a bit tricky to start with due the need to project the pattern onto the
16-agon which LDraw uses for cylinders - I suggest starting with something
large and rectilinear, although most of those are done now.
Todd, is there any way to make this link more obvious, as this same question
turns up somewhere on the CAD groups about once a month.
