The tiles and keychain were seperate though.  Nice to see that they tweaked the
letter ratio in the tiles so that there are more of the common letters.  I have
a small BUCKET full of unwanted tiles since I often have to use two packs of
letters to make one person's name.

Unfortunately, and inexplicably, TLG redesigned the pattterns for all of these
tiles, so these are different parts.[1]

All the letters on the newer tiles (from set 4294192) seem consistently smaller
than those in set 4677 and most seem offset slightly to the left.  On the plus
side, the printing is much more solid and consistant than that on the old tiles
(all the tiles in the above picture are from packages newly opened today, yet
the L and M from 4677 already look like they've been well-used).

I believe that the tiles with silver printing on the Parts Tracker are all from
4677, so 4294192 offers 30 more parts for someone to CAD up. . .

[1]  The only rational explanations I can think of are a) TLG found some graphic
designers who work for really, really cheap or b) TLG made so much money last
year that money is no longer an issue.  I suspect that rationality had little to
do with this decision. . .

(...) I suspect that the new smaller prints are less susceptible to printing errors. The more space around the letter the less tiles will have the writing snipped at the edge so you waste less of them. Tim (19 years ago, 24-Apr-06, to lugnet.parts)
