Cool. I referenced this previous discussion: 5183 and this one: 5187

The faces themselves are still on the faceted cylinder, and moving them over would be a LOT of work, I would imagine. But I guess my question is this: are the little shadows at the points where the faces of the cylinder don’t match the torus radii an acceptable compromise? You get them only at certain viewing angles as the image with all the heads illustrates.

I tend to think maybe yes, because having a better defined rounded part of the head seems worth that flaw.

But in the second thread Steve talked about a way to project patterns onto cylinders (or at least more finely grained cylinder primitives that matched the number of divisions in the torii?)

Do we want to put these through the process now and then do it again if and when the patterns come along? I’m thinking the improvement is such that it is worth doing, but I am not sure.

Do we then keep two versions around, or do we move to the torus primitive versions as being the official ones, or? I think there may be some users that would prefer to stay with the older version because it doesn’t have gaps.

The original face geometry had the same number of segments around the Y axis, but only two segments in the Y axis, while the torus primitives have 4 segments in the Y axis. As far as I can (...)
