    question about subparts —Willy Tschager
hi folks, the other day I posted a hires series of bricks with classic space logos, but before I send them to steve I've got some questions about subparts. in an e-mail bernd broich suggested to use a unique subpart, which also sounds reasonable to (...)      In lugnet.cad.dat.parts, Willy Tschager writes: now, regarding (...) it would be best to have it so all the dithered colors are in a subfile. on the file being used with the subfile the part is the dithered color.          are you sure? —Willy Tschager
(...) sounds weird. just to make it clear that I got it right. both subparts (subpart 1 is my frontside, subpart 2 is just the color gold) go in the parts\s-folder and the 3004p90.dat part would look like this: 0 Brick 1 x 2 with Classic Space Logo (...) Personally, I would prefer just a single level of nesting, like this 0 Brick 1 x 2 with Classic Space Logo Pattern 0 Name: 3004p90.dat 0 (...)          Re: are you sure? —Bernd Broich
(...) This would work, but isn't it a little bit strange? I think you should make only the 2nd subpart for the gold surfaces. The pattern you can make in a Subpart in the main directory (like a real part). See 80.dat or other Subparts in the main (...) (22 years ago, 27-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: question about subparts —Steve Bliss
(...) As others have said, you *must* put the gold areas into a separate subfile from the rest. But you can still have a subfile for the entire pattern, that you can use in multiple parts. Steve (22 years ago, 26-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: question about subparts —Bernd Broich
(...) Yes you have to, else you wouldn't need subparts for dittered colors. CU Bernd (22 years ago, 26-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: question about subparts —Franklin W. Cain
(...) What he said... ;-) The _ONLY_ legitimate way to handle dithered colors is with a type-1 (sub)file reference. Thus, you _must_ have one separate (sub)file for each dithered color to be used in a specific pattern. (22 years ago, 25-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.cad.dev)
