You're welcome. (I know I'm in the minority a bit, but...) I'm not a fan of
bending mini-figures at the knees and elbows or performing other not-physically
possible changes to the bodies when modeling -- why use LEGO elements at all if
one is going to bend the rules like that? So when you come up with a creative
solution "within the rules" that looks right, it's a very nice win (I suspected
you would have had to "half unhinge" the binoculars from the mini-figure's grip
to get it pointed where you wanted -- a move I would not actually distress
over).

I respectfully disagree. It's the same with texture mapping: Bring up
Illustrator (or another object-oriented 2D "draw" style package), drag out two
ellipses (possibly as circles), and then go through a save-load-save work
process with Photoshop (or another favored 2D "paint" style package that
supported alpha-channels and .PNG output adequately) to get the bitmap.
I was actually thinking a page full of different "eye expressions" would likely
get done (because all would be easy -- irises, specular light dots, perhaps even
gradients in several different colors), and you'd have a host of choices, all
easily manipulated.
Furthermore, there is the FALLBACK syntax to consider. If it's easy to do with
an illustration package, and it's easy to with Design By Architecture, then it's
a win-win, you can prototype in the form you're comfortable with, and then
provide a wider functionality for everyone.

The binoculars with the textures in the ends of the eyes (a "family" of them, as
I mentioned above).
