Moonbase Observatory —Jaco van der Molen
Hello all, Here is my Moonbase version of my Observatory! Photo's: (2 URLs) (deep link) LMKWYT Original Observatory Photo's: (2 URLs) are also some renders of both observatories and several other models: (URL) (21 years ago, 1-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.models, lugnet.space) !

Re: Moonbase Observatory —John P. Henderson
(...) Wow, two hours have passed and no one else commented on this yet? Well I think it is a great model. Actually when I read the subject of the post I immediately began running through ideas of how I might build a deep space telescope into a (...)          Re: Moonbase Observatory —John Henry Kruer
Ooh, very VERY cool. I love the shape and the windows you used. Very nice- a cool distinctive part of a moonbase. Less war, more science! :) (...) You'd be suprised. I've seen models equally good that have gotton no feedback at all. -JHK (21 years ago, 1-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.models, lugnet.space)

          Re: Moonbase Observatory —Dave Schuler
(...) Very true! In addition, photos of this fine observatory have already been discussed here: (URL) That's a gorgeous rendering, though! Dave! (21 years ago, 1-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.models, lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase Observatory —Jaco van der Molen
(...) nice- (...) Thanks! (...) Pitty. But understandable. The .space newsgroup is one the most busy ones and I suppose if you are not into this moonbase stuff, you do not read it. Many people do read, but do not comment. But that is OK with me! (...) (21 years ago, 2-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.models, lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase Observatory —Jaco van der Molen
(...) I think that is because I post from the Netherlands and due to the time difference around the world it can take some time for people to read it... (...) THANKS! (...) the (...) nice There are two main reasons for that: 1. I used them in the (...) (21 years ago, 2-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.models, lugnet.space)

        Re: Moonbase Observatory —Adrian Drake
(...) That is very very cool, I like it! I love it when people make stuff that moves on these modules. It makes for a good showpiece too :) The shape of the observatory itself is very nice. A good use of sculpture techniques there. Adrian -- (URL) (21 years ago, 2-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.models, lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase Observatory —Jaco van der Molen
(...) moves (...) In theory the top of the sphere should rotate indeed with the telescope and all. (...) Thanks! I made the sphere using the sphere generator! That is a great tool. Jaco (21 years ago, 2-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.models, lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase Observatory —John P. Henderson
(...) So much to read around here, I must have missed any conversation on a "sphere generator". I am fascinated as to what that might be. Perhaps a CAD term? (Haven't been reading .cad) -Hendo (21 years ago, 2-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.models, lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase Observatory —Jason S. Mantor
(...) I believe the one Jaco mentions is a Photoshop plugin, but there are others too. I like Erik Olsons's utility. It is online and freely avaialble here (URL) (21 years ago, 3-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.dat.models, lugnet.space)
