BTW, Onyx, nice job on the Ferraris.  They're very recognizable.
Unfortunately, they don't really match the traditional LEGO car building
style, so they wouldn't work very well with cars designed by other lego
fans...Have you ever tried to fit the wheels under the car as opposed to
tacking them to the outside of the car?

thanks bram... and i agree, they aren't like TLG cars, or even most MOC cars,
but then again, it's LEGO, that's the whole point!..

and putting the wheel within the fender wells just isn't feasable at this
scale.. unless i wanted to use the *tiny* wheels that come mounted on the • 2x2's
with side axles.. but then the overall scale becomes so small that you can't
put in enough detail for my taste (they end up looking like TBerger's 355.. no
offense :) , but it's hard to find details on his model that make it scream
"i'm an F355!") so i prefer to just kick the wheels out and then make the body
look as best i can.. i'd try tucking the wheels in if i went up a step in
size.. it's just my style :)

Actually the problem therein is not the actual wheels, it's the centering of
the individual files. For example, the 4474 plain space cockpit has to be moved
4 spaces downward and 6 spaces inward to connect to the 4315 1x4 hinge plate.
the wheel hub has to be moved 31 (not just 30 or you'll have scraped rims)
spaces from the center and 5 spaces down in order to connect with the axles of
the 2x2 plate w/wheel holders. Then the tires (or "tyres") have to be
centered around the location of the hubs. The wide wheels are centered
properly, but have to be moved out a whole 10 units more than the regular ones.
As for the fender ("mudguard") system, it was centered around the first 4212
car base plate. the mudguard fits on top of the plate's wheel wells, the
wheeled plate fits underneath. In short, there's supposed to be a 1 plate
distance between the 2.
By the way, how are you with the 1969 Dodge Charger? I'm trying to make a
General Lee for my own town collection.
