WIT is that it is very cool. POVRay is great for rendering things, even
if they can't exist (statically) in real life, such as this podracer
floating over a surface without any support (other than its
gravitronics)

Define actual in this context? Just because you didn't see it in the
movie doesn't mean that it wasn't offscreen. Supposedly these podraces
were a frequent occurance, and that would mean thousands of different
designs over the life of the races.
